Queen of the Night November 30, 2015
The Queen of the Night flower or Night-Blooming Cereus is part of the cactus family originating from Mexico/Central America. This flower blooms for one night a year only but the beautiful flowers are worth the wait! You can see the flowers open in front of you if you stay around through the night
These plants are unique and hard to find in any nursery but don't worry, you can grow your own one! To cultivate the plant snap off a leaf and plant it in a pot of loose, aerated soil and watering frequently. The plants should start sprouting in a few weeks and it can then grow over rocks or up a tree.
This plant is in my Great Aunts garden in White River and we were lucky enough to be there to see it in full bloom this year - for one night only!
Life in bloom!
